I looked into the hapsim R project, and the main idea is that you give them a real data set, and they produce artificial data sets with the same statistical properties as the real data set. Their main data structure is a binary matrix (rows are individuals and columns are binary biomarkers). Although R is great for statistics, I think at this stage, the Bio::PopGen package is probably worth investigating instead. More on this later --JeremyZucker 22:41, 17 December 2005 (EST)
